UPI apps allow you to accept payments which automatically get transferred to your bank account or wallet. UPI which was launched by the Reserve Bank of India and National Payments Corporation of India has really simplified online payments.
All you need is a UPI enabled app to send and receive payments. Some of these apps also generate a QR code which can be scanned by UPI enabled apps to initiate a transfer request. However, these apps would generate a single QR code which can’t be customized to receive a custom amount.
If you want to create a custom QR code for a particular amount then you can use the following tool. This tool would use your UPI ID and amount entered by you to create a customized QR code. On being scanned this QR would automatically fill the amount in the scanned app.
You can also download the generated QR as a PNG image and print it to create a custom standee for your business. You can share the image in social media or WhatsApp to allow others to send UPI payments to your wallet or bank account.
Create Your QR Code with the UPI QR Code Generator
Open the UPI QR generator by visiting the following link.
If you already have an UPI ID (also known as Virtual Payment Address or VPA) then all you have to do is enter your name and UPI ID and then enter an amount. Leave the amount field empty if you don’t want to set a custom amount and let the sender decide the amount.
You can create this for any UPI ID created with any UPI enabled app. The QR code would be generated in an instant. Try scanning the generated QR code with any UPI enabled app and it should work as expected.
However the UPI app scanning the QR, would show an error if the UPI ID doesn’t exist, is suspended or not enabled.
Create UPI code using your mobile number
If you use your mobile number as a virtual payment address or ID then select the Mobile number option in the dropdown and then enter your mobile number. Enter the amount and the UPI ID would be created.
NOTE: To receive money using your mobile number with UPI, you can create a UPI number, which is a bank-verified phone number identifier for your UPI ID. You will have to link your mobile number with your bank account to avail this service.
You can create up to three UPI numbers for each UPI ID, and they can be your phone number or any 8–10 digit numeric ID you choose. Once you’ve created a UPI number, you can receive payments from any UPI app, regardless of which app the sender is using.
Create a QR Code using your AADHAAR number
If you have a AADHAAR linked bank account and use it to receive payments then you can create a QR code by selecting the Aadhaar Number option from the drop down. Enter your Aadhaar number and select an amount. You can also leave the amount field empty if you don’t want to set an amount.
Create a QR using your Bank Details
You can also create a QR code to let UPI apps send money directly to your bank account. Simply select the Bank account number option from the drop-down and enter your account number and your bank’s IFSC code.
Anyone can scan the generated QR code with their UPI enabled app and send money directly to your bank account.
However, If the IFSC code doesn’t match any of the bank’s branches, the transaction may be rejected. You might receive a notification that the transfer failed, or the bank may delay processing it. So, make sure the details entered by you are correct before creating a QR code.
